Environmental Representative (Health Inspector)
About the role
The St. Louis County Department of Public Health seeks an Environmental Representative (Health Inspector) to support environmental programs focusing on FOOD SANITATION, POOLS, TOBACCO, TATTOO AND PIERCING, and other public health programs.
Responsibilities
- Ensure food establishments comply with the food code through inspections, responding to complaints, educating operators, and enforcing food safety ordinances.
- Inspect pools, respond to complaints, educate operators, and enforce the pool code.
- Ensure tattoo parlors are permitted and in compliance with the tattoo ordinance.
- Respond to septic complaints and ensure sewage systems are not failing.
- Investigate complaints, conduct inspections, and monitor establishments for compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Conduct inspections, compliance audits, and provide training and education in various environmental health programs.
- Promote environmental protection projects and communicate exposures and risks to the public.
Requirements
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, engineering, mathematics, chemistry, a natural science, or a related field.
- Two years of related experience.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License.
Qualifications
Additional Information: The position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening. The successful candidate must also be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Schedule
Full-time position with flexible scheduling to accommodate inspections and compliance audits.
Pay
$23.00/hr. Plus, a comprehensive benefits package and a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy.
