About the role
We are seeking a proactive and safety-focused Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to support workplace safety, regulatory compliance, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced warehouse and distribution environment. This role serves as a key partner to the Site EHS Manager in promoting a culture of safety and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS policies, procedures, and programs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company standards, and applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements
- Support site-wide safety initiatives and continuous improvement programs
- Promote a positive safety culture through employee engagement and leadership
- Coordinate and deliver: New Hire Safety Orientation, Task-Specific Safety Training, Monthly Safety Meetings, Ongoing Safety Awareness Programs
- Develop training materials and safety communications
- Coach employees and supervisors on safe work practices
- Reinforce compliance with site safety policies and procedures
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and safety assessments
- Evaluate new equipment, processes, workstations, and operational changes for safety risks
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Support risk assessments and hazard mitigation activities
- Lead or support incident investigations involving: Injuries, Near Misses, Property Damage, Security Incidents
- Perform root cause analysis
- Develop and track corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure timely resolution and documentation of findings
- Coordinate Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities
- Support emergency preparedness planning and drills
- Assist with emergency response procedures and training
- Maintain readiness for site emergency situations
- Conduct regular compliance audits and inspections
- Track and report EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Compile safety metrics, trends, and performance reports
- Maintain training records, audit documentation, incident reports, and compliance files
- Support internal and external EHS audits
- Serve as a forklift safety resource for the facility
- Conduct forklift observations and operator evaluations
- Support forklift certification and recertification activities
- Coach associates on powered industrial truck safety practices
- Safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment as needed
- Provide operational support during staffing or business needs
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in: Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Related Field OR Equivalent Relevant Work Experience
- Working knowledge of: OSHA Regulations, Workplace Safety Programs, Environmental Health & Safety Standards
- Previous forklift operating experience required
- Experience working in: Warehousing, Distribution, Manufacturing, Logistics Environments
- Ability and willingness to operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification or equivalent safety credential
- Experience training, coaching, or certifying forklift operators
- Experience with: Incident Investigation, Root Cause Analysis, Safety Audits, Compliance Programs, Safety Management Systems
- Experience in: Manufacturing Operations, Warehousing, Logistics, Distribution Centers
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills
- Experience with incident management and auditing software
