Job Summary

The EHS Specialist is to provide company-wide EHS strategy, planning, policy, standards, practices, processes, and systems to ensure regulatory compliance and protect employees, communities, and the environment.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • To assist in driving the EHS vision, mission, policy, and strategies by performing EHS compliance applicability reviews, EHS risk assessments, and implementing effective programs, procedures, processes, and systems to ensure regulatory compliance and protect employees, communities, and the environment.
  • To assist in site-wide audits to identify systemic EHS management gaps, develop targeted corrective measures, and implement solutions to sustain compliance with EHS strategies, policies, or standards.
  • To leverage lessons learned and develop continuous improvement EHS programs.
  • To provide EHS service, solutions, programs, best practices, and technical guidance to business management and support functions to effectively and efficiently manage compliance assurance and EHS risk mitigation.
  • To assist in management of EHS incident investigations to determine and implement root cause corrective actions.
  • To actively engage with production employees on the floor.
  • To develop company-wide employee safety and injury prevention programs.
  • To conduct various environmental auditing, record keeping, and regulatory reporting as required.

Education, Experience, Licenses and Certifications

  • BS or MS in environmental, health, safety or relevant scientific or engineering field, preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an EHS program, operations, quality, or engineering functions.
  • Mechanical experience preferred.
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple & technically complex assignments concurrently.
  • Experience leading and motivating cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and diverse environment.

Skills and Abilities

  • Tactical and strategic regulatory leadership and direction.
  • Work well with limited supervision while being responsible for project management, compliance assurance, risk mitigation, injury prevention, and environmental management.
  • Organized, analytical, detail-oriented, problem-solver, project management skills, and focus on results.

Schedule and Required Availability

Selected candidates must be available to work one of the following shifts:

  • 2:30pm-1:00am, Monday through Thursday (off Friday through Sunday)
  • 7:00am-5:30pm, Thursday through Sunday (off Monday through Wednesday)

Scheduling flexibility to support business needs, required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk, and communicate, use hands/fingers, feel, and reach with arms.
  • This position requires the ability to lift, bend, or stoop as necessary up to 20 lbs.
