About the Role

You will support and manage environmental issues associated with electric operations primarily in New Hampshire. Responsibilities include emergency response and management of Oil and Hazardous Material (OHM) releases, planned cleanups, regulated waste stream oversight, substation SPCC Plan accuracy, Tier II filings, training, and policy development for environmental matters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental oversight for the assigned service area.
  • Direct and support OHM spill containment and cleanup efforts.
  • Provide on-call availability for storm and after-hours emergency OHM spill response.
  • Coordinate the management and disposal of hazardous and regulated materials in the assigned region.
  • Provide guidance on the management and disposal of asbestos-containing materials (ACM).
  • Develop and maintain substation Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans.
  • Represent Eversource with customers and regulatory authorities to enhance relationships.
  • Prepare annual LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Commission) and SARA (Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act) Tier 2 reports.
  • Participate in substation internal environmental assessments, audits, and inspections.
  • Assist business area owners in improving environmental processes and audit follow-up actions.
  • Support site assessment and remediation activities at Company locations regulated by state/federal rules.
  • Assist in environmental due diligence for property sales and acquisitions (ASTM/AAI).
  • Drive a proactive PCB removal program for the assigned area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of related experience.
  • Valid motor vehicle driver’s license.

Skills

  • Knowledge of spill containment, cleanup, and emergency spill response.
  • Experience with PCB waste testing, disposal, and documentation (manifests).
  • Familiarity with hazardous and regulated materials management, including asbestos.
  • Ability to develop and maintain substation SPCC plans and prepare LEPC & SARA reports.
  • Experience conducting internal environmental assessments, audits, and inspections.
  • Knowledge of water/wastewater discharge permits, spoils reuse, PILC, metals reclamation, waste minimization, and transformer recycling.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external audiences.
  • Competencies in building trusting relationships, teamwork, change leadership, strategic communication, customer focus, and accountability.

Pay

Annual salary range: $95,050.00–$105,610.00. This position is eligible for a potential incentive.

Schedule

Hybrid schedule requiring at least three days in the office (including Tuesdays and Wednesdays), with flexibility for the third day based on department needs. Must be available for up to five days in the office for emergencies, training, or other business needs.

Emergency response is part of the role. Employees may be called to assist during emergencies outside normal responsibilities, work hours, and location.
