About the role

Our Environmental business in Midland, TX is looking for an Environmental Scientist, Environmental Engineer or Geologist to join their team. This role will be based in Midland, Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace.
  • Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Waste Management: Lead waste projects or supervise area of the organization, ensuring adherence to regulations and effective reduction, segregation, and disposal of waste.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Support technical troubleshooting efforts, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues with equipment and experiments.
  • Technical Developments Recommendation: Research and suggest technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs.
  • Engineering Drawings: Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Testing: Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards.
  • Research: Carry out a range of research activities either to support others or to fulfill the requirements of the role.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
  • Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
  • Preparation of technical correspondence, project proposals, reports, work plans, and project specifications
  • Coordinate and implement project permitting
  • Interpretation/evaluation of environmental regulations
  • Data compilation, reduction, and interpretation
  • Understanding of remediation, remediation methods, and operations and maintenance requirements

Qualifications

  • PE or PG in Texas or New Mexico
  • 3-8 years of experience in environmental consulting including environmental permitting & compliance, remediation & design, site assessments, report writing, data management & interpretation and project coordination
  • Experience in coordinating and simultaneously managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently
  • Strong working knowledge of NMOCD and NM SLO rules and regulations as it relates to assessment and remediation
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (plus)
  • Ability work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel to undertake field work is required

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology or related field
