Environmental Engineer/Civil Engineer
About the role
Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer/Environmental Engineer to support an expanding portfolio of projects. The successful candidate would be based in Syracuse, NY. Spring (May) 2027 graduates are encouraged to apply. As part of our Resilience Environment team, you will work closely with a team of experienced environmental and civil engineers, collaborating on diverse projects of varying sizes and types across North America. Responsibilities
In this role, you will primarily focus on projects related to remediation, land development, and restoration for a wide range of clients, including industrial-private, public sector, and agency-based organizations. Your responsibilities will involve earthwork and hydrologic-hydraulic modeling, site design, development of construction and permitting related documents, and office-based construction support. The position will include, but is not limited to, activities such as:
- Engineering design including land development planning, hydraulic modeling/calculations, erosion and sediment control evaluations and layout, and earthwork site design
- Developing permit/construction-level drawings and details
- Preparing construction technical specifications
- Report writing for civil and environmental permitting
- Construction cost evaluation and estimating
- Office-based support of construction projects (e.g., submittal reviews, field change documentation, site layout information)
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Enrolled in or have earned a BS of Civil, Environmental, or related engineering discipline (a diploma is required upon graduation)
- Previous work experience (internship or full-time experience in civil or environmental consulting or related field)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of previous work experience (internship or full-time experience in civil or environmental consulting or related field)
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or scheduled within the next 6 months
- Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, or other terrain modeling design software
- Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling (e.g., HydroCAD, WinTR-55, PondPack, HEC-RAS)

Additionally, the candidate should have a strong passion for pursuing a career in the civil/environmental engineering sector. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are also required for this position.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $54,648–$81,972. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
