Civil/Environmental Engineer
At Garrett & Moore, we specialize in waste management engineering and environmental consulting, and we’re looking for a motivated engineer with 5-7 years of experience to join our growing team.
About the role
As an Environmental / Civil Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and permitting solid waste facilities, conducting environmental assessments, and working on innovative sustainability solutions. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse and impactful projects, including landfill construction, groundwater monitoring, stormwater and wastewater design, and financial feasibility studies. The role offers a balance of technical work, project management, and client engagement.
Responsibilities
- Design and permit solid waste management facilities, including landfills, compost facilities and recycling centers
- Conduct environmental assessments, feasibility studies, and site characterization studies
- Perform stormwater design and erosion control planning
- Support groundwater monitoring and statistical analysis
- Assist with financial planning and cost analysis for waste management programs
- Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and environmental compliance documents
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop sustainable and cost-effective solutions
Requirements
- 5-7 years of engineering experience in solid waste management, civil engineering, environmental consulting, or related fields
- B.S. in environmental, civil, or related engineering field
- Strong background in civil/environmental design, permitting, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Strong technical writing and communication abilities
- Fluency in AutoCAD preferred
- Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) required; P.E. license (or ability to obtain) preferred
