Environmental Control Technician

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain industrial water treatment equipment.
• Demonstrate the proper utilization of treatment chemicals following all safety measures.
• Run metal bearing batch treatment loads.
• Operate and maintain: AA unit, treatment pumps, metal bearing filter press, sludge dryer, D.I. unit, Industrial Water Treatment System, Ultra-filtration water treatment system, various waste treatment related records.
• Demonstrate the ability to properly operate equipment such as plating process filtration, auxiliary filtration, ion exchange equipment, etc., and understand the importance of ensuring all valve positions are in their proper position before running said equipment.
• Is a Hazardous Materials Response Team Member.
• Work with hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
• Pass a 24-hour HAZMAT technician training within 60 days that includes hazardous waste operation and emergency response.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• One (1) year experience preferred.
• Science background helpful.
• Successfully complete a 24-hour HAZMAT technician training within 60 days that includes hazardous waste operation and emergency response.

Qualifications

• Capable of traveling & working throughout the entire facility, within reasonable accommodation.
• The noise level is usually moderate.

Skills

• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of industrial water treatment equipment and operations.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and operate hazardous materials.
• Basic understanding of hazardous waste operation and emergency response.
