About the role
Environmental Technician position at the Stellantis Detroit Assembly Complex-Mack in Detroit, MI, focused on handling solid and hazardous waste.
Responsibilities
- Collect trash, recyclables, scrap metal, and other waste streams throughout the plant and transport to disposal.
- Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to landfill, recycling center, and other disposal streams.
- Perform and document daily equipment inspection prior to use.
- Assist supervisor with response to chemical spill incidents by placing adsorbents on liquids, sweeping or vacuuming solids, and containerizing cleaned-up materials for proper disposal.
- Assist Project Manager with daily supply delivery, waste pick-up, and waste organization.
- Document and inform Resource Manager of any contamination in the plant’s recycling and waste containers.
- Maintain necessary documentation of waste inventories, inspections, and other activities as required.
- Operate fork truck to load/unload trucks.
- Operate Burden carriers.
- Follow all plant-related safety guidelines.
- Sort and bale recyclable material.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One-year experience in waste management.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to pass a drug test.
