Environmental Compliance Specialist

Duties/Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assist clients with understanding and complying with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and/or revise various U.S. EPA and state-required written programs or contingency plans (SWPPP, SPCC, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans, etc.).
  • Complete annual reporting such as annual waste summaries, Emergency Planning Community Right-to-Know Act reports (i.e., Tier II, Form R), and emissions inventories.
  • Evaluate and document air emissions, Permit-By-Rule applications, New Source Review Applications, and conduct emissions calculations.
  • Prepare scope of services, cost estimates, and proposals for clients.
  • Write environmental permit applications for various media such as wastewater, stormwater, and air emissions.

Requirements

  • A BS or BA in Geology, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • At least four (4) or more years of professional-level experience in environmental consulting, with prior experience preferred.
  • Effective written/verbal communication, presentation, and organizational/analytical skills; experience authoring detailed technical reports and plans.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills while working on multiple projects for multiple clients; candidates must be detail-oriented, assertive, and exhibit good listening and note-taking skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, particularly Microsoft Excel functions and formulas.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including rain and heat.
  • Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs, as well as work at higher elevations such as building rooftops and tank farms.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Pay

Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Regular travel to client locations (local and regional) with occasional national travel possible; approximately 30% overnight travel.
