Entry Level Wastewater Engineer
About the role
Fuss & O'Neill is seeking an early-career Wastewater Engineer to join our dynamic team in Hartford, CT. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or graduate degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, with coursework or internship experience in wastewater engineering, pump stations, collection systems, or treatment.
Responsibilities
- Design wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and collection systems
- Perform hydraulic and process modeling for wastewater systems
- Prepare engineering reports, technical memorandums, and permit applications
- Auxiliary with feasibility studies, cost estimates, and construction documents
- Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Support project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and client communication
- Participate in field visits, investigations, and construction oversight
Requirements
EIT certification is preferred, with a path toward PE licensure being a plus. Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, as well as exposure to HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, or similar hydrology/hydraulics modeling software, is beneficial but not required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a willingness to learn. They should also possess strong organizational and communication skills, and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word, is essential. Basic knowledge of GIS software is also helpful.

Pay
The base salary range for this role is $75,000 - $100,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
