Entry Level Traffic Engineer

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform field observation and collect traffic data.
• Learn and become proficient in performing traffic analysis utilizing traffic software such as HCS and Synchro.
• Carry out safety evaluations and crash assessments.
• Develop solutions to mitigate traffic deficiencies.
• Aid in the preparation of conceptual layouts depicting recommended improvements.
• Prepare technical memorandums and reports associated with large and medium scale traffic studies.
• Learn traffic control devices design that include signing, markings, signals, lighting, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) using CAD software.
• Collaborate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality.

Required Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Written and communication skills

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
• 0-5 years of experience
• Proficient in traffic analysis software such as HCS and Synchro
• Familiar with Highway Capacity Manual and ITE Trip Generation Manual

Preferred Experience

• EIT or PE License
• Familiar with MUTCD, AASHTO, and Highway Safety Manual

Working Conditions

• Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time.
• Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking.
• Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
• Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.

• Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
