Entry-Level Radar Engineer
About the role
Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Entry-Level Radar Engineer to join a diverse team creating unique solutions for complex sensor and radar-oriented problems. This role supports advanced technology radar programs, including development of radar signal processors, radar tracking algorithms, advanced sensors in EW environments, simulation of radar systems, field-testing of RF sensors and systems, and deployment of advanced sensor systems.
You will work closely with skilled engineers to deep-dive into existing algorithms, identify areas for improvement in performance and processing latency, and investigate newer algorithms from literature to enhance radar programs.
Responsibilities
- Support development of radar signal processors and radar tracking algorithms.
- Work on advanced sensors in electronic warfare (EW) environments.
- Simulate radar systems and conduct field-testing of RF sensors and systems.
- Deploy advanced sensor systems.
- Collaborate with a team of engineers to analyze and improve existing radar algorithms.
- Investigate and evaluate newer algorithms from literature for potential performance improvements.
- Apply skills in radar modeling & simulation, antenna array theory, digital signal processing, tracking, algorithm development, and field testing.
- Participate in peer reviews of new algorithms developed internally or sourced from industry.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited school (or strong demonstration of the required skills).
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
- Must be a resident of Northern Alabama or willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL.
- Strong technical background with organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to apply skills in radar modeling & simulation, antenna array theory, digital signal processing, tracking, algorithm development, and field testing of sensor systems.
- Experience working with a team of engineers to solve difficult radar algorithm problems.
- Proficiency in the following areas:
- Digital signal processing
- Tracker algorithms
- MATLAB / Python
- Radar Simulation and Modeling
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an ABET-accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience with radar simulation and a strong background in statistics and probability.
- Additional skills in:
- Electromagnetics
- Modern C++ development
- Familiarity with Linux
Pay
Pay Range: $57,850.00 - $104,575.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
