About the role
This position offers a unique mentorship opportunity to work alongside a senior radar engineer on the Tactical Missile Systems team at Redstone Arsenal. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a foundational understanding of electromagnetic physics who is eager to learn how to develop, integrate, and analyze software models and simulations of radars and RF phenomenology.
Responsibilities
- Integrate vendor-supplied RF software models into a common C++ simulation framework and scene generation environment.
- Develop and implement math and physics-based models for RF phenomenology (e.g., RCS, environmental clutter, signal propagation, and antenna patterns).
- Develop and execute MATLAB and Python analysis scripts to evaluate signal processing algorithms, RF component models, and integrated radar system performance.
Requirements
- US Citizenship.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related technical discipline.
- 0-2 years experience (or equivalent academic/project experience) with software development, modeling and simulation, radar systems, RF phenomenology, and/or data analysis.
- Experience using MATLAB, C++, Python, Fortran, or other programming languages to solve mathematical problems, analyze datasets, or model physical systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as an individual.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience effectively communicating complex topics.
- A strong interest or foundational experience in radar systems, electromagnetics theory, or digital signal processing.
- Experience developing and executing statistical studies (e.g., Monte Carlo analysis) using MATLAB or Python.
