Entry Level Accountant

We are a privately owned manufacturing company producing plastic bottles and containers across multiple U.S. facilities. We are expanding our accounting team and seeking an Accountant to support plant operations and financial reporting at our Hagerstown, MD facility.

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Entry Level Accountant to join our fast-paced Accounting and Finance team. This is a permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse team of professionals and gain hands-on experience in the world of financial management. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, and utilizing Paychex and ADP systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining the General Ledger: Responsible for the maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger. Ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the financial and accounting operations of the company.
• Preparing Journal Entries: Preparing timely and accurate journal entries in accordance with established accounting standards and procedures. Recording financial transactions, posting debits and credits, and maintaining the balance of financial accounts.
• Utilizing Paychex and ADP: Utilizing Paychex and ADP systems for payroll processing, tax filing, and benefits administration. Ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions and compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
• Performing Other Accounting Tasks: Assisting with other accounting tasks as needed. Preparing financial reports, conducting financial analysis, and assisting with budget preparation and financial planning.

Qualifications

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role. Experience with General Ledger, Journal Entries, Paychex, and ADP is required.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is required. Experience with accounting software, such as QuickBooks or Sage, is a plus.
• Certifications: CPA or CMA certification is a plus, but not required.
