Enterprise Project Manager
About the role
This position reports to the Senior Enterprise Project Manager and supports the Director of Strategy and Innovation. The Enterprise Project Manager will provide leadership and direction to project teams, executive sponsors, managers, and staff across the agency, managing large, enterprise-level projects that typically impact multiple divisions. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop and implement methodologies suitable for a correctional environment. Some projects will be high-profile and high-risk, including initiatives that implement new legislation with critical impacts on DOC policies, procedures, and daily operations. You will work closely with agency executive leaders, making recommendations that support transparent, customer-focused government operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams on outcome-based project planning
- Manage, direct, and develop projects and project plans using standardized processes such as charters, schedules, budgets, and reports
- Engage sponsors, steering committees, and agency stakeholders across authority lines
- Manage expectations and communicate plans actively
- Interact and communicate regularly with executive management
- Provide senior-level leadership and advanced expertise to customers, teams, and staff
- Support the continual development of project management capabilities within DOC, ensuring standardization and the use of current, relevant methods and tools
- Ensure project status, issues, and successes are communicated to project teams, stakeholders, sponsors, and appropriate levels of management and documented appropriately
- Coach, collaborate, and coordinate with project teams and subject matter experts to identify outcome measures early in projects, improvement initiatives, and program development
- Design and develop project-relevant measures appropriate to project scope and need
- Track, monitor, analyze, and report internally and externally through Results DOC and regular status updates to the supervisor
- Build project-specific teams and engage members in all phases of project management
- Create a sense of belonging and ownership among team members
- Assemble teams with the right mix of skills, knowledge, and abilities; coach and motivate members; delegate responsibility; and promote mutual respect and interaction
Qualifications
- Required:
- Skilled-level project management experience with successful implementation and management of projects impacting a large organization (1,000+ employees with satellite locations), using planning, control, monitoring, and review principles, techniques, and tools
- Ability to analyze information, define problems and objectives, formulate logical and objective conclusions, recognize alternatives, and make recommendations
- Ability to coach and mentor others
- Ability to use technology and computer systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and quality of work
- Ability to use Microsoft Word to independently draft formal documents for others’ review and signature
- Preferred:
- PMP Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, social science, or closely allied field from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or CHEA (or foreign equivalent)
- LEAN certification
- Change Management certification
- Experience with analysis and interpretation of data
- Professional experience creating presentations using PowerPoint, Excel, or other presentation and data software
- Strong influence, change management, and relationship-building skills
Pay
Salary range: $109,545 – $120,393 annually.
Schedule
This is a full-time, permanent position with telework/hybrid flexibility. The candidate may work from home with a reliable internet connection; travel and in-office work may be required as business needs dictate.
