About the role

Join our team and make a meaningful impact by guiding prospective students through their journey to WCTC. The Enrollment Counselor will be the main point of contact for prospective students who are seeking to enroll at WCTC. Under direction from the Director of Recruitment & Engagement, they will counsel students from inquiry to enrollment, facilitate the student’s transition to their academic advisor, and provide superior customer service to their external and internal constituents.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel prospective students and their support systems through the admissions funnel to help reach WCTC’s enrollment goals and fulfill strategic enrollment management initiatives.
  • Manage prospective students from an assigned population and/or geographic territory.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college policies, procedures, programs, and articulation with other colleges, surrounding state/private colleges and universities.
  • Complete unofficial credit evaluations when required.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition of the student to their correct academic advisor and navigator within the structure of WCTC’s Student Services Division.
  • Coordinate appropriate follow-up activities using various technologies (CRM, SIS, etc.) and strategies utilizing a variety of in-person and virtual meetings, various communication methods, and other means.
  • Coordinate and assist with various on and off-campus events, including open houses, information sessions, campus tours, presentations, personalized campus visits, one-on-one meetings, state-called meetings, college fairs, school visits, career fairs and other appropriate community events.
  • Work closely with other enrollment services staff, student services staff, and WCTC campus departments and divisions to provide complete and accurate enrollment information and excellent customer service, through in-depth relationship building, to students.
  • Monitor, track, and guide students throughout the enrollment process from inquiry to enrollment.
  • Administer reports and review dashboards for various admissions-related performance measures, auditing needs, and student follow-up.
  • Maintain current professional technical knowledge in the field through professional development including state-called meetings, conferences, and other opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Recruitment & Engagement Team to ensure the creation of a positive team environment and creative efforts to recruit and enroll prospective students to WCTC.
  • Participate in campus committees and other related activities as needed or desired.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic statistics to collect and analyze data.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement recruitment/enrollment principles and techniques in the educational environment.
  • Ability to foster positive interpersonal relationships with diverse mix of traditional/non-traditional prospective students and parents, adult learners, secondary school administrators and staff, faculty and instructional managers and the public.
  • Ability to communicate and present information effectively through one-on-one contacts, public speaking/presentations, and in writing. Ability to plan and coordinate seminars and workshops and to implement comprehensive programs.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to perform computer functions including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, email and databases. Ability to write copy for brochures, direct mail and information handouts.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, a self-starter willing to take initiative when needed.
  • Ability to be flexible with work hours/schedule—this position will occasionally require evening, early morning, and weekend hour availability. Ability to travel and work in a variety of settings (i.e., schools, offices, other organizations, etc.).
  • Possession of a valid WI driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of experience in education, communications, counseling, or a related field OR Associate Degree with three (3) years of experience in education, communications, counseling, or a related field.
