The Admission Counselor plays a key role in the recruitment and enrollment of students for both undergraduate and graduate programs across all colleges at The New School, including Parsons School of Design, Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, the College of Performing Arts, and The New School for Social Research.

Responsibilities

  • Travel extensively across the U.S. and internationally to represent all university programs at high schools, college fairs, and professional conferences.
  • Evaluate a wide range of applications and academic credentials to determine eligibility for the university’s diverse degree offerings.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Office of Admission and faculty across various departments—from design and social sciences to humanities and the arts—to coordinate application reviews and student yield efforts.
  • Assist with the coordination of large-scale on-campus recruitment events, open houses, and orientation sessions for the entire university community.
  • Manage outreach to prospective students and families across all disciplines via phone, email, and social media to communicate the unique value of a New School education.
  • Lead or serve on department-wide specialty and project teams focused on admission events, communications, recruitment planning, marketing, and other key enrollment services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport for international travel.
  • Experience in visual art and design, either through a BFA or as an admission counselor in art and design admission.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary higher education environment.
  • Proficiency with CRM databases (e.g., Slate).

Work Mode

This position is primarily in-person and based on campus to support effective collaboration and engagement. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the role and operational needs.

Pay

$66,300 - $70,500 per annum.
