Bethel College seeks an Admissions Counselor to support outreach, recruitment, and counseling of prospective students.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Bethel College at college fairs, high school visits, and other on- and off-campus activities.
  • Maintain communication with prospective students and families via telephone, email, digital, and written channels.
  • Review admissions applications and encourage completion of admissions and initial enrollment processes.
  • Coordinate recruitment events and establish relationships with high school counselors, community college advisors, college-prep organizations, churches, and community organizations.
  • Provide admissions, financial aid, and academic advising services, including counseling on federal/state financial aid, institutional and private scholarships.
  • Plan, organize, and implement recruitment trips and outreach activities.
  • Assist in coordinating and promoting special events such as visit days, financial aid nights, registration activities, and campus visits.
  • Work with the Director of Admissions and team to meet recruitment territory goals.
  • Evaluate recruitment strategies, report outcomes, and recommend improvements.
  • Develop professional knowledge and sales skills through training sessions and planning meetings.
  • Serve as a Mandated Reporter under Title IX and Bethel College’s Equal Opportunity, Harassment, & Non-Discrimination Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions.
  • Supervise student counselor assistants, student ambassadors, and student callers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • One year of work-related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with correct grammar and spelling.
  • Experience developing goals and objectives.
  • Proficiency with various software applications.
  • Strong organizational skills, including multitasking.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.
  • Inquisitiveness and follow-through for managing long-term relationships.
  • Compassionate and structured approach to working with diverse, non-traditional, and underserved student populations.
  • Initiative in seeking new recruitment partners and opportunities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Diplomacy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work processes, including shifts between in-person and remote work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education admissions, enrollment, or academic environments.
  • Experience in sales or a service-oriented role.
  • Professional management of social media accounts, virtual experiences, or communication plans.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Physical Demands

  • Minimal lifting (up to 40 lbs.) and reaching.
  • Extended use of computers and office equipment (telephone, calculator, copier, printer).
  • Movement between classrooms, buildings, and off-campus locations.
  • Ascending and descending stairs.
  • Ability to perform tasks both sitting and standing for extended periods.
  • Function well in a standard office setting and indoor work environment.

This is a full-time, on-campus, in-person role (1.0 FTE) with benefits.
