Belmont University is seeking a qualified Admissions Counselor to join our team in Belmont, CA. This is a full-time, permanent staff position within the Admissions department.
Responsibilities
- Recruit and counsel prospective students while handling general office duties.
- Provide leadership for various admissions processes as needed.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of Belmont University’s academic, social, and spiritual composition to uphold the university’s vision.
- Manage student enrollment for a designated geographic region through direct visitation, recruiting visits, and campus appointments.
- Evaluate applicant credentials to assess academic and personal alignment with Belmont’s mission and goals.
- Assist with on-campus events, lead information sessions, participate in scholarship interview days, and attend Preview Days and Be Belmont Day.
- Provide financial aid counseling to prospective students and exercise knowledge of available financial aid programs.
- Participate in awarding merit-based scholarships to admitted students based on qualifications.
- Engage in cross-functional improvement teams and initiatives.
- Support Enrollment Services and other offices as assigned.
- Frequent overnight travel required during fall and spring semesters.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Previous college admissions experience as a student or employee preferred.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement principles.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Basic knowledge of marketing and higher education.
- Ability to apply processes and policies with sensitivity and make final decisions.
- Superior presentation, oral, and written communication skills.
- Must possess a current valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Selected candidate will complete a background check satisfactory to the university.
