About the role

The Admissions Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based in Rock Springs, WY, responsible for guiding prospective students and their supporters through the admissions process. This position requires consistent on-campus presence and occasional evening or weekend activities for outreach and events.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with prospective students and respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person visits.
  • Provide information about academic programs, campus life, and financial aid resources.
  • Conduct campus tours and participate in recruitment events and college fairs.
  • Build relationships with high schools, community organizations, and other partners.
  • Evaluate applications and assist with enrollment steps.
  • Collaborate closely with faculty and staff to support a smooth transition from prospect to enrolled student.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with prospective students, families, and campus colleagues.
  • Customer service and sales skills to engage prospective students, address questions, and support recruitment and conversion goals.
  • Understanding of education environments and student development to effectively explain academic pathways and college resources.
  • Ability to present information clearly in group settings, conduct campus tours, and represent the college at outreach events.
  • Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities, follow up with prospects, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with standard office software, databases, and online communication tools; experience with CRM or admissions systems is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and serving students from varied backgrounds.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Education, Counseling, Communications, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Prior experience in admissions, student services, recruitment, or customer-focused roles is an asset.
