Enrollment Counselor, Admissions Specialist (Temporary) - Enrollment Management Group

About the Role
The Enrollment Counselor Admissions Specialist is responsible for guiding prospective students through the enrollment process, from initial inquiry to registration completion. This role primarily involves support and detailed management of the campus visit process, providing strong communication to visitors both pre- and post-visit, supporting logistics for daily visits and recruitment events, and engaging with the Campus Visits & Enrollment Events Management team to ensure a dynamic and excellent campus visit. This position will support efforts to build affinity for Duquesne from each visitor and prospective student, with the goal of making Duquesne the student's first university choice.
Note: This is a temporary position.
Responsibilities
- Provide inbound and outbound communication for prospective students and their families, ensuring strong customer service and consultative student recruitment.
- Support the admissions, campus visit, and enrollment processes, including but not limited to logistical support for events and daily visits, calendar coordination and administrative support, inventory management, and other duties as assigned.
- Give general information session presentations to groups of students and families visiting campus, and conduct 1:1 individual meetings to provide consultative recruitment and assist students by providing information about the university, admissions, and academic programs.
- Recommend ways to help meet specific enrollment targets, analyzing data to develop strategies for improved performance.
- Achieve monthly goals for campus visits, contacted prospects, completed applications, and semester-based closed enrollments on a semester basis.
- Stay informed of and adhere to all relevant regulations and policies, and engage in ongoing professional development. Ensure compliance with FERPA, Title IV, and other applicable regulations.
- Coordinate with other departments, including financial aid, registrar, and academic advising, to ensure a seamless student experience.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- 1 - 2 years’ experience in customer relations, sales, higher education, particularly in admissions, financial aid, student accounts, or advising and registration or related fields.
- Familiarity with academic programs and offerings.
- Proficient in using technology for communication and data management.
- Note: Experience in higher education admissions office, managing student ambassador groups, and/or with event planning can substitute for experience/education requirements.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in business or related field from an accredited institution (preferred).
- Familiarity with Slate and Banner (preferred).
- Strong communication skills: articulate, active listening, and tailored messaging.
- Effective in cross-functional teamwork and collaboration.
- Strong organizational skills: detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.
- Advising and supporting student goals.

- Understanding of applicable regulations (e.g., FERPA, Title IV).

Schedule
- Required schedule: 12pm - 8pm weekdays.
- 9am-1pm Saturdays, 1x/month per person (in-person).
