Engineering Technician - Mechanic

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an opportunity for an Engineering Technician - Mechanic supporting TOS II at Tunnel 9 in White Oak, Maryland. The role involves operating and maintaining industrial machinery as part of an integrated team responsible for U.S. Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

About the role

The Engineering Technician will perform technical, mechanical, and electrical work to support the safe operation and maintenance of various industrial machinery within an engineering wind tunnel test facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and moderate complexity tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and operate mechanical and test systems, including gas and liquid pumps, compressors, high-pressure tubing systems, valves, and cylinders.
• Begin training to become a qualified operator of industrial control systems.
• Accomplish maintenance and servicing work to keep test facility equipment operational.
• Assemble and disassemble precision mechanical components in lab and field environments.
• Operate hand and machine tools; qualify to operate large equipment such as cranes and forklifts.
• Maintain a safe workplace, prioritizing safety and adhering to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 0-5 years of progressive and relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
• Current U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures in a high-risk setting.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $16.90–$26.80 (Grade M02-M03, non-exempt).
