ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN.

Responsibilities

• Gather information from files and prepare various reports relevant to maintenance and construction activities.
• Perform contract activities of a technical nature, including drafting plans, coordinating, and inspecting work of contractors and hired labor.
• Perform field engineering work to develop site plans.
• Inspect and monitor the performance of piezometers, visually inspect embankments, and conduct dam operations/maintenance.
• Perform a variety of laborer tasks such as brush clearing, policing grounds, mowing, weed eating, and cleaning ditches.
• Maintain and repair facilities, including electrical and mechanical repairs, concrete and masonry duties, and plumbing tasks.
• Operate motor vehicles and equipment.

Requirements

• Pre-employment physical and an annual health assessment are required.
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires a valid, State-issued motor vehicle driver’s license.

Qualifications

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation for U.S. citizens.

For the GS-05 grade level, you must meet one of the following:

• Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes at least two of the following duties:
  • Inventorying items in support of contracting activities.
  • Performing facility inspections.
  • Performing minor plumbing, electrical, or maintenance to facilities.
  This experience is typical of work performed at the GS-04 level in the federal service.
• Education: A four-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree with a major in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.
• Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify if the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

For the GS-06 grade level, you must have:

• Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes at least two of the following duties:
  • Preparing simple contract documents, including a bill of materials.
  • Reviewing work of contractors.
  • Performing minor plumbing, electrical, and maintenance to facilities.
  This experience is typical of work performed at the GS-05 level in the federal service. No substitution of education for experience is permitted.

For the GS-07 grade level, you must have:

• Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:
  • Preparing simple scopes of work for maintenance or construction contracts.
  • Leading others in performing electrical, plumbing, and facility maintenance.
  This experience is typical of work performed at the GS-06 level in the federal service. No substitution of education for experience is permitted.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education has been evaluated by a private organization specializing in the interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to U.S. education standards.
