The Northrop Grumman Defense Systems team has a need for an Engineering Technician 4 to join our growing team at Allegheny Ballistics Laboratory (ABL). The role offers technical assistance in support of manufacturing operations for Medium Caliber Fuze and Projectile production, including troubleshooting equipment and working with team members to drive root cause and corrective action for safety, quality, and production issues. Travel is required (10% of the time).

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all department and plant safety rules.
• Work comfortably in energetic areas.
• Read and interpret part prints, machine schematics, and product specifications.
• Operate and troubleshoot dial indexing machines and automated energetic assembly operations.
• Monitor gage and instrument calibrations to ensure calibration cycles are not exceeded.
• Interact and communicate effectively with external customers and all plant personnel.
• Collaborate with tooling and equipment vendors to resolve equipment issues.
• Develop Manufacturing Process and Documentation to ensure production hardware and test articles meet engineering and configuration requirements.
• Provide analysis and data to support review boards and investigations.
• Instruct machine operators on technique and the safe operation of manufacturing equipment.
• Perform observations of manufacturing processes to establish reasonable expectations of daily throughput.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities for safety, quality, and production.
• Prepare tooling sheets and assist operations in machine setup and debug.
• Participate in tooling design, fact-finding, and failure investigations.
• Monitor manufacturing processes through review of SPC data.
• Provide coverage on weekends and off shifts as needed.

Qualifications

This position emphasizes skills and experience. Candidates will be evaluated based on one of the following criteria:

• High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years of additional education and/or related experience.
• Experience with gaging and SPC methods.
• Proficiency with computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CAD.
• Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.

Pay

Primary level salary range: $68,300.00 – $113,900.00. The range represents a general guideline; base salary offers consider the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
