ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN 4
About the Role
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis. Will be assigned to Engineering Field Office (E18) Norfolk.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience
- Equivalent qualifications may include: NNS Apprentice School graduate; Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate; High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, or Military experience; or High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, or Military experience
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Interim Clearance required to start
- Ability to work independently with minimum oversight and attention to following direction
- Leadership, communication, analytical, team building, collaboration, and flexibility skills required
- Public speaking skills necessary
- Occasional travel to other Naval Shipyards required (10%-25% of the time)
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge in specialized functions
- Wide and comprehensive acquaintance with, and understanding of, both general and specific aspects of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered
- Duties and tasks are varied and complex
- Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of problems and issues
- Errors are very difficult to detect and would normally require significant expenditures to resolve
- Contacts are frequent with individuals representing outside organizations and/or individuals of significant importance within the company
- Contacts involve planning and preparation of communications, requiring skill, tact, persuasion and/or negotiation to accomplish objectives
Skills
- Proficiency in the latest version of Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Senior enlisted Submarine, military, government or technical background preferred
- Experience in shipboard maintenance, shipyard/repair activity, and/or fleet support preferred
Pay
$83,000.00 to $104,000.00
