About the role
The major responsibility is to prepare STEM samples using FEI/ThermoFisher Helios dual beam FIB-SEM tools with iFast and AutoTEM software in an autonomy-focused workflow. Primary duties include the preparation and imaging of samples in Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM) using Thermofisher Helios systems. Additional responsibilities may include FIB-SEM analysis, EDS, and Critical Dimension SEM.
Responsibilities
- Perform testing, check-out, and troubleshooting using schematics, diagrams, descriptions, layouts, or defined test plans.
- Test and troubleshoot system-level and component-level issues in electrical and mechanical systems and sub-systems.
- Inspect materials, components, or products for surface defects and measure circuitry using electronic test equipment, precision measuring instruments, microscopes, and standard procedures.
- Conduct operational testing and fault isolation on systems and equipment to determine effective methods to remedy malfunctions.
- Use test and diagnostic equipment, including test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus.
- Collaborate with development engineers in creating, designing, testing, and troubleshooting prototypes and models.
Requirements
- 0-2 years of experience with a BS degree in a physical science, or a specialized AS degree or equivalent professional training in materials science and analytical techniques.
- Position is shift work: front end nights.
Schedule
Work days are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday. Schedule time is 5pm-5am.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating dual beam FIB/SEM tools, especially in the preparation of thin lamella for STEM or TEM imaging.
- Knowledge of the physics involved with FIB/SEM tools, such as vacuum systems, voltage/current effects, and ion sputtering behavior.
Pay
Salary range for this position in the California San Francisco Bay Area: $27.88 - $53.85 per hour. Salary offers depend on factors including location, level, education, training, specific skills, and years of experience.
