About the role
Positions are available in our Mission Critical Department, which focuses primarily on hyperscale data centers and related mission critical facilities. The Engineering Team Lead – Electrical is a people-first leadership role within our Mission Critical Department. This person is responsible for developing, guiding, and elevating a team of electrical engineers while maintaining technical credibility on complex data center and mission critical projects.
Essential Functions

Team Leadership & Personnel Development (60%):
- Act as the day-to-day technical resource / mentor for assigned project teams, including coordination of engineering and BIM resources
- Support onboarding and technical ramp-up of newly hired engineers and designers
- Provide mentorship and development guidance to L3/L4 engineers through regular communication, technical reviews, and direct project involvement
- Aid in candidate interviews with focus on technical capability, communication skills, and team fit
- Coordinate workload forecasting, staffing coordination, and resource planning
- Promote standardized workflows, design practices, and QA/QC expectations across assigned teams
- Escalate project, staffing, technical, or performance concerns proactively and provide recommended paths forward
- Build a culture of accountability, responsiveness, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the department
- Lead by example in communication, ownership, collaboration, and execution in a fast-paced remote environment
- Delegate design tasks, calculations, and deliverable ownership to team members commensurate with their capability
- Model and reinforce desired company communication and operating system
- Facilitate structured team learning sessions, technical discussion forums, and lessons-learned reviews

Electrical Engineering Design Activities (20%):
- Independently perform intermediate to advanced engineering work
- Perform intermediate to advanced electrical design tasks including development of electrical distribution systems and topologies, infrastructure and equipment layouts and selection / sizing of equipment
- Utilize AutoCAD and Revit software to prepare drawings and visual aids (as applicable)
- Review and / or prepare book or sheet specifications for electrical systems
- Develop and / or review sequences of operations
- Aid in proposal development including project scope, schedule and budget
- Timely and effectively manage project design team including resource forecasting and coordination
- Identify potential project scope changes and aid in development of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines
- Define and communicate clear technical direction and design basis to project teams, particularly under conditions of client ambiguity or late-binding decisions

Pre-Construction & Construction Activities (10%):
- Survey existing building conditions and prepare technical reports of findings
- Collect data and other information for construction documents
- Prepare project design and construction documents
- Work as part of the engineering team and interact closely with the project management team
- Review shop drawings and submittals
- Review and respond to RFIs
- Review and complete punch lists and project closeout documents

Reporting (10%):
- Maintain 30/60/90-day onboarding documentation for all new hires in purview, flagging milestone gaps before the next PDP gate
- Complete and submit performance development check-ins at defined intervals with written progress assessments, identified gaps, and recommended next steps for each direct report
- Proactively escalate performance or development concerns to department leadership prior to formal review cycles, with a proposed path forward
- Track and report team capability and readiness levels, including advancement candidates and identified resource gaps
- Report on workload distribution across assigned engineers, flagging capacity imbalances that risk compressing development time
Position Requirements
- Knowledge of electrical systems found in buildings including single/three phase power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding and life safety systems
- Knowledge of codes and specifications for the design of electrical systems including National Electric Code, Life Safety and Energy Conservation Codes
- Knowledge of technical / design software including short circuit coordination and arc flash studies, equipment sizing, underground feeder calculations and lighting calculations
- Knowledge of various electrical topologies and distribution systems
- Skilled at producing drawings and visual aids using AutoCAD and Revit
- Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management
- Skilled in performing code analysis including selection of equipment, wiring, etc. to meet code requirements
- Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
- Leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation
- Work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace
- Follow company and site safety requirements
- Analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)
- Work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision
- Work under pressure and meet close deadlines
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously
