About the role
The Engineering Support Specialist plays a crucial role in controlling and distributing engineering specifications, supporting the maintenance of the Bill of Materials (BOM) database, and providing day-to-day support to the Engineering and R&D teams.
Responsibilities
- Control, maintain, and distribute engineering specifications in an organized and timely manner.
- Assist in maintaining the Bill of Materials (BOM) database, including processing engineering changes and performing periodic audits to ensure data accuracy.
- Support the maintenance and accuracy of product data in Oracle, Product Data Hub (PDH), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Collaborate closely with R&D and engineering teams to ensure product data and documentation remain current and consistent across systems.
- Maintain both electronic and paper files, ensuring proper organization, version control, and accessibility for internal stakeholders.
- Disseminate information and documentation to internal and external clients in a clear, accurate, and timely manner.
- Compose professional business correspondence for internal and external distribution, including updates related to engineering changes and product data.
- Read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical documents to support accurate data entry and document control.
- Work effectively with all levels of internal management, staff, and external customers to resolve issues related to engineering data, BOMs, and documentation.
- Demonstrate strong ethics, integrity, accountability, and dependability in handling sensitive engineering and product information.
- Manage time and priorities effectively to meet deadlines associated with engineering changes, audits, and data updates.
- Identify and help resolve problems related to product data, BOM structures, and documentation inconsistencies.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in file management, including maintaining electronic and paper files.
- Experience in disseminating information for internal and external clients.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- History of regular and consistent attendance at work.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (subject to assessment).
- Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and Bill of Materials (BOM) structuring.
- Ability to compose clear and professional business correspondence for internal and external audiences.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical documents.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as external customers.
- Demonstrated ethics and integrity in handling engineering and product information.
