Summary
The Engineering Supervisor oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency; ensures the manufacturing and process engineering teams and cross-functional departments work together cohesively; and is responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process; leads and directs the work of assigned manufacturing engineers and process engineers. Key contributor in operational excellence annual savings objectives.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Reviews and filters new business opportunities, assesses risks to manufacturing, and provides alternatives to customers with partnership with NPD, Commercial and Estimators
- Maintains department related documentation (training, work instructions)
- Supports all current and new product introductions including aged tooling replacements
- Works closely with new product development, quality and maintenance personnel to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures/automation
- Ensures all manufacturing safety regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times
- Stays informed concerning new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies
- Determines and eliminates root causes and diminishes occurrences in the manufacturing process
- Mentors and coaches new Manufacturing Engineers and other employees as needed
- Leads implementation and ownership of new capacity or improvement related projects
- Lead reducing cost through re-engineering product/material/process
Education & Experience
- Required:
- 4 year degree in Engineering
- 3+ years of progressive experience in Manufacturing Engineering
- Understanding of ISO9001 or 13485 standards
- Desired:
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience in tool design/modifications
- Leverage of Lean Six Sigma Green, Black Belt Training or other lean certifications
- Experience with clean room manufacturing, medical manufacturing, and/or injection molding
