Engineering Student Engagement Coordinator

Job Summary

The Engineering Student Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing student involvement, leadership growth, and academic success within the University of Wisconsin–Madison College of Engineering. Through the design, delivery, and evaluation of co-curricular programs, this position enriches the undergraduate experience by helping students discover their interests, develop key skills, and build connections across the engineering community.

As a key contributor to the College's new ImagiNEXT initiative, the coordinator helps broaden access to transformative hands-on opportunities that foster experiential learning, leadership development, global immersion, and engagement with industry and community partners. In collaboration with others, this role coordinates logistics for international and domestic immersion programs, facilitates professional and career development travel for students, develops and leads first-year engineering interest groups, and manages the college-wide student experience symposium and other initiatives. By creating meaningful pathways for involvement and growth, the coordinator advances the College's commitment to preparing engineers who are equipped to lead with empathy, purpose, and impact in a rapidly changing world.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Organizes student-focused programming and resources to promote new and ongoing educational initiatives
• Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns
• Creates and maintains schedules, logistics, and resources for one or multiple student affairs programs, activities, and/or services
• Generates and analyzes reports of curricular and unit outcomes
• Serves as a subject matter expert regarding student affairs to internal and external stakeholders

Compensation

The starting salary for the position is $57,000 (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications).

Required Qualifications

• At least two years of professional experience in higher education post-bachelor's degree in one of the following areas:
  • Experience developing, coordinating, or implementing programs, events, and/or initiatives that enhance the student experience
  • Experience working directly with college students to promote engagement, personal development, and/or academic success
  • Experience planning and managing program operations, such as scheduling, communications, registration processes, event logistics, and/or post-event assessment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with students interested in pursuing STEM fields
• Experience promoting, marketing, or communicating student opportunities and programs to increase student awareness and participation
• Experience facilitating co-curricular, leadership, student engagement, or student success programming for college students

Education

• Required: Bachelor's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, education, sociology, psychology, engineering or STEM or a related field
• Preferred: Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, education, sociology, psychology, engineering or STEM or a related field
