Engineering Specialist - Customer Application Engineer

Responsibilities
- Review and analyze customer application requirements, operating conditions, and job specifications to determine production selection parameters.
- Select existing unit designs or design new gear configurations that meet performance requirements, AGMA standards, LUFKIN's standards, and all applicable specifications (API, ABS, ISO, DNV, etc.).
- Generate cost analysis and pricing for the proposed unit according to LUFKIN's current policy.
- Create and transmit necessary sales support data, including complete proposals, recommended sales prices, unit outlines, data sheets, comments, and exceptions to customer specifications, rotor arrangements, lube systems, general arrangements, preliminary quality plans, testing plans, etc.
- Aid field sales in proposal preparation, communication, and presentations as needed.
- Participate in negotiations with customers and channel partners for commercial, legal, and technical aspects of offerings, coordinating with various functions as required.
- Provide commercial insights during deal reviews, including financial analysis and pricing strategies for both new units and services.
- Support handover meetings with Project Management to communicate as-sold pricing, scope of supply, cost assumptions, etc.
- Occasionally assist with vendor support for commercial activities.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of cost libraries, proposal deliverables, quoting tools, training aids, etc.
- Assist with the training and onboarding of new employees, as needed.
Requirements
- Have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university, plus 2–4 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- The ability to travel up to 15% as needed in support of customers or internal meetings.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Effective computer skills with competence in basic Microsoft Office programs suite.
- The ability to manage change in an evolving/fluid environment.
- The ability to travel up to 15% for customer or internal meetings.
Qualifications
- Energy Technology Background
- Enclosed Gearbox Domain Expertise
- Experience in Energy, Marine, or O&G related industries is a plus.
- Sales, Commercial, or Project Management experience is a plus.
- Rotating equipment experience is a plus.
- Experience with Salesforce.com is a plus.
Skills
- Knowledge of new developments and technologies in Lufkin and other manufacturers' equipment.
