Application Engineering Specialist

About the role

The Application Engineering Specialist within the Industrial Adhesives & Tapes Division (IATD) at 3M will collaborate with innovative 3Mers around the world. This role offers an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government, or military experience to a 3M career.

Responsibilities

• Drive core and new Industrial Adhesives and Tapes structural adhesives product penetration to win new bonding applications in the Industrial marketplace.
• Develop new application solutions aligned to customer needs.
• Lead voice of customer efforts to support new product development programs.
• Identify and communicate future market trends and product needs for structural adhesives.
• Create new application demonstration tools.
• Train customers, sales reps, and international colleagues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (verified prior to start).
• Four (4) years laboratory environment experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Polymer/Plastics Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited institution (preferred).
• Two (2) plus years experience working with adhesives.
• Proficient in adhesive test methods and quality systems.
• Experience in adhesive dispensing/automation equipment.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong people skills and ability to influence, collaborate, and work with cross-functional teams.
• Self-directed and internally motivated with proven leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Benefits

• Relocation: May be authorized.
• Work location: On-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
• Travel: May include up to 25% domestic/international.

Pay & Benefits

• Pay range: $145,676 - $178,049, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible.
