Engineering Project Manager - Business Development Lead
About the role
We are currently seeking a talented and dynamic water/wastewater engineer to join our team and drive business development efforts. This role is ideal for a licensed professional engineer who is energized by relationship-building, strategic outreach, and identifying new opportunities.
The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented, collaborative professional, with strong interpersonal engagement and communications skills. The selected incumbent will work with teams across multiple offices and design disciplines; which requires a strong commitment to inclusion and clear communication.
Responsibilities
- Lead business development initiatives across target markets, including outreach, networking, and strategic partnership cultivation
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new project opportunities aligned with the firm’s goals
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings
- Collaborate with leadership to shape market strategy and growth plans
- Support proposal development, interviews, and presentations with compelling storytelling and design insight
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business
- Track market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities
- Work closely with design teams to ensure client needs and project goals are clearly communicated
- Provide mentorship and staff development to the Texas Engineering Team
- Assist Texas Engineering Team members with design solutions and quality assurance on client projects
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with a Professional Engineer license
- 10+ years of experience in water and/or wastewater engineering, with experience in developing client relationships
- Strong understanding of the design and construction process
- Strong project management skills – particularly with larger initiatives including system consolidation and comprehensive long-term infrastructure solutions
- Experience in working with Texas municipal governments, and a clear understanding of the grant funding process for infrastructure
- Demonstrated track record in mentoring and developing staff and teams
- Exceptional communication, networking, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, self-directed approach
- Comfort engaging with executives, developers, institutional clients, and community stakeholders
