Engineering Manager Level 2 (Signals &TC)
About the role
Engineering Manager Level 2 will be involved in all phases of an MTA C&D project lifecycle, including planning, scheduling, analysis, design, technical specifications, and reports. The role will entail some of these typical duties:
Responsibilities
- Designs/supervises various aspects of a project for MTA infrastructure.
- Performs technical and feasibility studies, including analyzing historical data, surveys, reports, and as-builts to create innovative engineering design projects.
- Reviews designs, tests, assesses materials and performs/reviews engineering calculations.
- Conducts site visits to obtain existing conditions and correctly identify design and construction risks.
- Plans and coordinates required permitting and approval documentation that supports their designs.
- Manages a small team of design engineers.
- Embraces mentoring from senior staff.
- Adheres to corporate quality control standards within the discipline.
- Covers coordination with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in the appropriate Engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Communications, Track, Signals, Environmental, Fire Protection).
- Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience.
- Minimum of four (4) years in a management or supervisory role and/or project manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization.
Qualifications
- A registered NYS licensed professional engineer (PE) is required.
- Experience performing site inspections, documenting site conditions and construction activities, coordinating with Agency Owner and contractor staff, and responding to contractor requests for information.
- Knowledge of applicable industry and NYS building and design codes and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Focus and ability to deliver results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
- Team-building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
- Proficiency in current design and engineering software and Microsoft Office.
- Experience in interpreting engineering reports and analysis.

Final salary is determined by experience, skill set, and alignment with compensation practices. The posted range reflects expected compensation and may be updated as market or business needs evolve.
Schedule
This position is eligible for telework, which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.
