About the role
The Engineering Leader will support and enable the Platform and Infrastructure teams in planning, executing, and delivering the Candid platform to healthcare provider customers. This role will report directly to the Head of Engineering, Jason Rosenfeld, and work closely with the Founders and Leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Manage at least 3 distinct teams: Production Infrastructure, Developer Infrastructure, and Data Engineering.
- Leverage an expansive breadth of ownership for the priorities of both teams and customers to balance competing needs and manage tradeoffs.
- Support teams in executing against the technical vision, scoping projects, and reviewing plans.
- Lead teams in planning, prioritization, tracking, and delivery of impactful results.
- Ensure teams maintain a high level of technical quality, reliability, and developer satisfaction.
- Influence partners and peers to eliminate obstacles and improve products.
- Make data-driven decisions to continuously improve reliability, performance, scale, and reduce operational load.
- Dive deep into software architecture and leverage domain knowledge to achieve business objectives.
- Recruit exceptional engineers and managers in collaboration with Candid’s talent acquisition team.
- Mentor and coach direct reports and those around you, creating healthy and well-executing teams that grow with equal velocity to the business.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in a Software Engineering Leadership position, such as Senior Manager or Manager of Managers.
- Track record of successfully leading people and teams to build scalable and reliable distributed systems, including teams focused on Data and Infrastructure engineering.
- Excellence in technical decision-making; knowledge of the right architecture and patterns to build functional, durable, and maintainable products.
- Ability to manage in multiple directions, including laterally and upward, advocating for yourself and your team.
- Successfully interviewed, hired, and mentored product-focused engineering teams, collaborating well with staffing partners and stakeholders throughout the hiring lifecycle.
- Clear and concise communication skills; ability to explain complicated ideas in simple terms, both in-person and in writing.
