Engineering Intern (12-Week Assignment)

Where You Will Work

This opportunity will be based onsite at one of our three fully integrated mills:

• Augusta, GA – Located along the Savannah River on the state border between Georgia and South Carolina, this mill manufactures light, medium, and heavy weight coated paperboard.
• Cypress Bend, AR – Situated in the historic Mississippi River Delta, this facility produces bleached paperboard and bleached Kraft pulp, used in folding cartons, commercial print paperboard, carded packaging, and cup stock.
• Lewiston, ID – The original Clearwater Paper manufacturing facility, producing paperboard products. Approximately two hours from Clearwater Paper’s headquarters in Spokane, Washington, this mill is a key component in our business strategy.

Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision of Department Managers to develop, implement, and maintain systems to meet business objectives and goals.
• Be immersed in strategic projects to bring value to our business and gain knowledge of our manufacturing process.
• Partner with Clearwater Paper engineers to learn the paper-making process from creation to distribution.
• Identify areas of improvement through strategic projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders and team members.

We provide intentional coaching and mentorship to support you during your time with us and help you learn all areas of the business. Combining training and hands-on experience, you will leave the internship with invaluable skills and industry knowledge, supplementing your college education.

Requirements

• Majoring in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering with a 3.0+ overall GPA.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, leadership experience, and self-motivation.
• Ability to work in an industrial environment – subject to extreme heat and cold.
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the mill environment.
• Comfortable working in noisy, dusty conditions around moving equipment.
