Responsibilities
- Work closely with manufacturing teams onsite to complete various program objectives.
- Team up with program management to respond to customer requirements.
- Learn the basic functions of FNG Program Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
- Aid in clerical items and documentation for Advanced Product Development.
- Establish long-term summer projects and report out upon completion of internship.
- Build and package pilot builds.
- Prepare assembly build instructions.
- Perform gage R&R studies.
- Participate in dimensional capability studies.
- Track and account for inbound pilot and early production materials.
- Assist respective engineers in advancing their skill sets for school development.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes, design new systems and processes for new products or process improvements.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Engage in continuous improvement plans focused on material consumption, work area optimization, and waste reduction.
- Maintain productivity standards for functional areas based on work measurement.
- Identify exceptions, formulate recommendations, and implement process improvements.
- Perform operational observations and process documentation.
Qualifications
- Major in Mechanical/Industrial engineering.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and other analytical and planning tools.
- Strong analytic and statistical skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of reading drawings and engineering instructions.
- Ability to apply knowledge of engineering science and technology.
- Ability to identify and solve problems.
- Ability to listen effectively to manufacturing personnel.
- Participation in department training programs.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
- Effective statistical analysis skills.
- Effective research and communication skills.
- Effective with written and oral communications.
- Valid drivers license required due to travel within a 50-mile radius.
