Responsibilities
- Perform field explorations, collect samples, geologic reconnaissance, mapping, and preparing field reports.
- Organize laboratory data, conduct/review limited soil index property laboratory testing and report data.
- Interpret data, prepare geological subsurface logs, profiles, design cross-sections, profiles, and assist in preparation of design reports.
Requirements
- BS and/or MS Degree in Geology or Engineering Geology.
- 2 years of experience as a Geologist, including soil sampling in accordance with USCS standards and some testing experience.
- Have taken or preparing to take Professional Geologist exam.
- Experience in geologic interpretation using soil and rock samples retrieved from explorations, soil classifications.
- Experience with application to geotechnical engineering practice is a plus (rock mechanics experience a plus).
- The ability to work independently with the appropriate level of minimal supervision.
- The willingness and ability to travel to support project needs.
Qualifications
- A valid driver license and insurable driving record.
- Basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel (required); RSLog (geotechnical borehole logging, or similar), MS Access (desirable).
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting and carrying 50+ pounds.
- Working in all weather conditions, on uneven terrain.
- The ability to travel (drive or fly) to field sites per project needs and job sites locally and across the United States.
