About the role

The transport engineer is responsible for creating and managing capacity creation requests (CCRs) for US domestic network transport builds across both ULH and OTN Mesh networks. The role involves delivering strategic business initiatives, performing capacity research, and coordinating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Create and action CCRs for network transport builds
• Initiate and engineer network projects
• Support LD transport capacity requirements for products and customers
• Manage and update network inventory databases
• Develop and place orders for network equipment and hardware
• Perform detailed equipment engineering and manage installations
• Provide diversity analysis and perform wavelength rearrangements
• Coordinate with stakeholders for network build plans and restoration
• Conduct data analysis and provide reports for transport planning
• Lead and mentor junior engineers
• Communicate with stakeholders and resolve performance issues

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Engineering degree with 5-10 years progressive technical experience in SONET and DWDM transport systems
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Competent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to learn and teach others
• Experience working with multiple tools and systems to consolidate information

Qualifications

• Familiarity with *** systems (ICON, CCP, BGW, NAUTILUS, CANVAS, TCOMS or nSAP)

Skills

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Excellent verbal, written, and analytical communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities
• Experience in data consolidation and reporting
