Engineer, Nuclear Level 4 Lead

About the Role

This position is for a Capital Projects Electrical Engineer. Engineers in this role provide technical interface with engineering firms on project development and prepare/review engineering documents using the applicable industry and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise with molded case circuit breakers and motor starters, including thermal overloads, low voltage power breakers and switchgear, and medium voltage power breakers and switchgear.
• Apply knowledge of industrial battery chargers, industrial inverters or UPS, and 125Vdc battery systems.
• Demonstrate familiarity with Emergency Diesel Generators (EDGs), large dry type or oil filled transformers, main generators, and voltage regulators.
• Prepare or review/verify design output documents (e.g., design changes, calculations, specifications) developed internally.
• Prepare stand-alone electrical calculations and procurement specifications in compliance with 10CFR50.59.
• Understand and apply the nuclear industry standard design process and independent design verification.

Experience with ladder logic and electrical schematics is highly preferred. Proficiency in power systems analysis (load flow, short circuit analysis, arc flash, coordination studies) and familiarity with computational tools like ETAP or EDISON are desirable. Prior experience with NSCA/safe shutdown analysis (Appendix R/NFPA 805) is also a plus.

Requirements

• Minimum of 12 years of collective nuclear experience in US nuclear power plants (international experience excluded).
• Experience must primarily be in power systems engineering, not Instrumentation and Control, sensors, analog/digital electronics, or cyber security.
• Exclude experience from fossil (oil/gas) power plants, wind, solar, geothermal, transmission/distribution, oil and gas, or petrochemical industries.
• More design/project engineering experience than project management experience.
• Prior experience as a cognizant/oversight engineer or in engineering project management is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (required).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; may substitute for degree.
• 15+ years of nuclear engineering or related experience, with expertise in plant operations and engineering project management.
• Experience with NextEra Energy or Florida Power & Light nuclear power plants (Seabrook, Point Beach, St Lucie, Turkey Point) is highly preferred but not required.

Pay

Estimated base salary range: $60/hour to $65/hour, dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills.
