About the role
The NYC Department of Design and Construction's Division of Infrastructure seeks an Engineer-in-Charge to manage complex construction projects, lead constructability reviews, and ensure project compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manage and inspect construction projects to ensure adherence to agency and city standards.
- Prepare cost proposals and suggest design modifications.
- Coordinate with Resident Engineers, Office Engineers, and Inspectors.
- Engage in design and constructability review meetings.
- Oversee financial aspects such as payments, change orders, and time extensions.
- Oversee final inspections and project close-out procedures.
- Mentor new staff and provide regular updates on project progress.
- Address critical delays in meetings.
Requirements
- A four-year high school diploma or equivalent and five years of full-time construction project management experience.
- One year of experience as a Resident Engineer and knowledge of various construction contracts.
- Construction experience related to infrastructure work (roadway, sewer, water main).
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards.
- Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices.
- Primavera P6 scheduling and ENV SP credential (preferred).
- Valid driver's license.
- Personal vehicle (preferred).
Preferred Skills
- Three years or more as Resident Engineer experience.
- Construction experience related to infrastructure work.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Pay
$83,743.00 – $99,607.00
Schedule
Full-time – 35 hours per week
