Responsibilities
- Perform Short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies for commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and generation facilities using SKM, ETAP, and/or Easypower software.
- Applies knowledge of low and medium-voltage switchgear, motor control centers, circuit breakers, panel boards, and disconnects to determine cost-effective mitigation solutions from the results and recommendations of power system studies.
- Develop study reports and communicate results and recommendations to customers.
- Perform data collection activities.
- Develop and/or implement arc flash mitigation designs.
- Interpret new construction drawing packages.
- Develop relay protective setpoints and settings files.
- Develop and/or update equipment control schematics, one-lines, three-lines, and wiring diagrams.
- Working on project teams supporting all quality and project management goals.
- Maintain up-to-date technical skills related to the design of electrical substations and protection and control schematics for the electric utility power grid through on-the-job work and formal training.
- Successfully execute small to medium-sized projects with limited oversight.
- Self-manage assigned projects and job cost accountability to perform work within budgeted cost estimates.
- Effectively communicate with other departments and customers to ensure activities are properly coordinated.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related from an ABET accredited school
- 4 or more years of experience performing power system studies and associated data collection activities for industrial customers
- Experience with SKM
