About the role
The ideal candidate will be accountable and responsible for engineering processes at the Arcadia OSB mill. This position will lead the implementation of engineering processes and champion best practices to meet customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Participates as a member of the mill lead team.
- Accountable for personal safety and for improving the safety of the other associates and contractors working on the mill site.
- Aid all plant departments and external suppliers to specify, design, and develop improvements in plant processes and methods.
- Lead and/or support project and task teams to achieve plant objectives in a safe and timely fashion.
- Provide coaching, developing, and guidance to associates by supporting a value-driven culture and setting performance expectations.
- Work in concert with Mill Manager, Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager, HR Manager, Financial Analyst, and the Technical Manager to establish and model organizational behavior.
- Lead the education and training strategic plan for functional area.
- Lead the development and implementation of mill capital projects using the PACE process.
- Interface with operations and maintenance to continuously improve mill operations.
- Own the mill capital plan and forecasting functions.
- Serve as a liaison on systems implementation.
- Lead contractor processes for the mill.
- Depending on incumbent capabilities and mill needs, may also be required to own or contribute to other leadership functions, such as environmental, process controls, or safety.
- Provide troubleshooting support plant-wide.
- Provide strategic input in capacity planning, disaster recovery (spare & procedure recommendation), system design, standards, and technical documentation and drawings.
Requirements
- Experience in an industrial environment.
- Familiarity with mechanical & pneumatic conveying equipment, mechanical drives, hydraulic systems, pumps, compressors & fans.
- Some familiarity with industrial burners, emission control equipment, process control & automation systems and process instrumentation.
- Assisting ongoing improvements with simple structural evaluation of buildings, frames, foundations, and roofs.
- A working understanding of industrial ventilation and lighting systems.
- Familiarity with common machinery fabrication & repair technology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or higher and 6+ years of applied continuous process manufacturing experience.
Skills
- Knowledge of Best Safety Practices.
- Knowledge and aptitude in mechanical and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated strength in interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated problems solving skills.
- Computer literate - AutoCAD, capability in Microsoft Office suite of products an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with implementing capital projects up through $5MM.
- Ability to establish positive relationships and work with production and maintenance teams to achieve mill initiatives.
- Excellent skills organizing and planning.
- Experience in developing and implementing budgets and schedules.
