About the Role

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

A Systems Engineer II performs a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, design, development, manufacturing, testing, installation, integration, sustainment, operation, and maintenance of diverse software, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Systems Engineering functions for Special Projects team to include: systems integration, technical planning, systems operations and maintenance, acquisition and supply, lifecycle analysis, risk management.
  • Develops and modifies JT4 systems engineering processes to support Special Projects.
  • Coordinates with other JT4 organizations performing Special Projects operations to ensure consistency in systems engineering processes across the domain.
  • Develops functional acceptance and operational acceptance test plans ensuring systems operational status, systems safety, and systems security compliance.
  • Supports Special Projects lead with requirements development.
  • Coordinates with Special Projects and operations team members to configure and operate complex SATCOM equipment in threat/target representative range environments.
  • Independently performs a range of design, development, analysis, or review tasks under generally established project deadlines.
  • Coordinates and works closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and support requirements.
  • Verifies and complies with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
  • Prepares, delivers, and submits technical papers and performs engineering studies.
  • Supports development of technical proposals and provides comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
  • Develops, maintains, and produces technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
  • Direct interface with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities.
  • Acts as liaison for design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
  • Conducts site visits and experimental investigations and analyzes engineering problems, proposes solutions and alternatives, and provides recommendations.
  • Performs other job-related duties, as required.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and two years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering.
  • Eligibility for a government TS/SCI clearance.
  • Professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles.
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools.
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines.
  • Active and current Security+ certification.

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering principles and knowledge of SysML, Cameo, and Rhapsody tools.
  • Familiarity with common coding languages and methodologies; C++, Python, and Java.

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is $75,000.00 to $110,000.00 annually.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required. Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
