Engineer II - Electrical Controls

What You’ll Do

  • Modifying/writing new PLC/HMI/other system programs.
  • Updating/create electrical schematics.
  • Determining requirements for new equipment/systems.
  • Installing new automation on existing equipment.
  • Covering/installing necessary PLC/HMI programs.
  • Performing testing and validation work as required.
  • Completing required paperwork and training for new systems.
  • Getting to the root cause and leading efforts to apply corrective action to prevent future incidents.
  • Identifying obsolete components and leading the effort to oversee the replacement with readily available components.
  • Identifying required spare parts, understanding lead times and possible substitute parts, and recommending quantities to stock.
  • Updating/create P&ID drawings.
  • Getting quotes for parts or services.
  • Cooking work for hired contractors and services.
  • Supporting device communications on the machine ethernet network.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical-related field and 4-years of PLC programming in manufacturing environment.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, additional years of experience may be considered.
  • PLC/HMI/Servo/VFD programming experience using Rockwell Automation platform.
  • Knowledge of automation networks and communications, including Ethernet, DeviceNet, ASi, ControlNet, DH+, Remote I/O, RS232, and the software used to support these.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar electrical design software.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics and P&ID drawings.
  • Strong analytical skills and exposure to project management.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Computer skills using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
