Electrical Engineer II- Power & Controls

Responsibilities

  • Develop power distribution and analog/digital control solutions for various commercial/industrial applications.
  • Architect, design, select components, layout, test, and debug systems.
  • Integrate PLCs into machine control panels.
  • Create electrical system documentation and manage Engineering Change Orders.
  • Generate work breakdown structures and schedules for electrical engineering activities.
  • Evaluate procurement specifications and quotes for materials.
  • Design and debug servo- and stepper-based electro-mechanical drives, power budgets, and other systems.
  • Design and debug power distribution systems for capital equipment.
  • Direct activities of junior-level engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Use standard electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, frequency counters, and current probes.
  • Design PLC logic architecture, implement, troubleshoot, and test systems.
  • Comply with design initiatives and interface with compliance laboratories (UL, NFPA, NEC, CSA, FCC, CE).
  • Utilize development practices like DFM, FMEA.
  • Interface with suppliers and customers on design and specifications.
  • Transition prototype designs into manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in power and controls.
  • 12+ years of design experience in a technical environment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for schematic and component layout and PLC programming tools.
  • MS Office Suite skills: proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Word.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively both face-to-face and on the phone.
  • Hands-on, take-charge attitude with strong electrical troubleshooting and vendor liaison skills.
  • Generally works in an office environment but may occasionally perform job duties outside of the typical office setting.
