Job Description

PSE's Engineering Operations team is seeking an Engineer I - Substation Controls to join their team. This role involves designing controls systems for substations containing voltages of 12kV and above, supporting emergency response operations, and collaborating with other engineering teams.

Job Responsibilities

  • Applies basic engineering principles and uses judgment in selecting and applying engineering methods.
  • Prepares cost estimates, performs engineering studies, and designs projects.
  • Develops project budgets and creates detailed schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Verifies and measures new equipment and system installations.
  • Collects and validates performance data from new and existing equipment or systems against design parameters.
  • Supports emergency response efforts as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • ABET accredited, or completed NCEES Credentials evaluated, Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, or other appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Entry-level to three (3) years of experience in engineering design, preparation of specifications, technical field work, or system studies.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with both internal and external customers on projects.
  • Familiarity with codes and equipment used in utility system design and operation.
  • Experience coordinating external consultants in project execution.
  • EIT certificate and ability to obtain PE license.
  • Knowledge of engineering economics and utility accounting practices.
  • MicroStation or AutoCAD experience.
