About the role

We are seeking a Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers opportunities to design substation protection and control projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV up to 500kV. The position involves interfacing with local clients, partnering with a variety of utility clients nationwide, and working on projects ranging from distribution to transmission levels.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with local clients and utility clients nationwide
  • Design substation protection and control projects
  • Execute substation protection and control projects
  • Work with different types of projects ranging from distribution to transmission level voltages
  • Perform electrical power calculations
  • Collaborate with other disciplines such as substation, telecom, and civil structural
  • Apply minimum requirements of the National Electrical Safety Code to design processes
  • Implement designs according to client standards
  • Work with a designer/drafter to create required drawings for each project
  • Conduct quality control checks on wiring design
  • Support project lifecycle from scoping to final design and implementation
  • Provide construction support

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with 4+ years of Substation protection control design and/or field testing/commissioning experience
  • Experience in executing substation protection and control projects
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with the internal team and clients
  • Ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure situations
  • Collaborative and leader who can work effectively in team environment
  • Self-starter who works independently with minimal direction
  • Strong analytical skills and proven problem solver in both team and independent environments
  • High level of computer competency
  • Willingness to travel to project and/or client sites

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • Four (4+) years of Substation protection control design and/or field testing/commissioning experience
  • Professional Engineer (“PE”) License
  • Engineer Intern (“EI” or “EIT”) professional certification
  • Experience performing quality control checks on small substation protection and control design projects
  • Experience working on CAD tools
  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Field testing/commissioning experience

Pay

The pay range for this position is $87,100.00 - $157,450.00 annually. The actual salary may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

Schedule

Candidates must live in Framingham, MA office's client servicing territory. MA, CT, NH, RI. (1 - 4 days in office.)
