Description In this role, you will evaluate and report on the overall health of MISO’s markets, with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and whether market outcomes are driving the intended behaviors. You will join a growing team with the opportunity to evaluate and recommend new wholesale electricity market design initiatives that can improve market outcomes for MISO’s stakeholders and, ultimately, the end-use customers we serve. In one year, you will know you’re successful if: You can perform engineering, statistical, and economic analyses of market and system operations, market products, Market Participant behaviors, and resulting market outcomesYou have developed a strong understanding of MISO’s market systems, how they work, and how they fit togetherYou can assess the health of MISO’s markets, provide timely reporting on market events, and validate that market outcomes align with established design requirementsYou can collect, organize, and analyze data to identify meaningful patterns, trends, and potential areas of concernYou are using data visualization tools to turn complex analysis into clear, understandable findingsYou are helping improve our analytical processes by identifying opportunities to streamline and automate repetitive activitiesYou contribute to team goals, create useful insights, ask relevant questions, and help identify opportunities to improve market performance This role requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical And Computer Engineering, Electrical And Electronic Engineering, or Electronics And Computer Engineering Technology Some Preferred Skills And Experience Include 1–2 years of relevant work experience preferredExperience or exposure in one or more of the following areas is preferred: energy market forecasting and analysis, power system analysis and operations, software development, data science, statistical or econometric analysis, market design, or optimization algorithmsWorking knowledge of data analysis and programming tools such as Python, Power BI, and AzureExperience with power engineering or market simulation tools such as PowerGEM or PLEXOS is preferred, but not required At MISO, your work helps ensure the reliable operation and continued evolution of one of the world's largest and most complex electric grids. In this role, you'll have an opportunity to help shape how MISO responds to rapidly growing large-load demand while strengthening the connection between where the grid is headed and what it needs to reliably deliver today. The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $71,000-$96,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience. Position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.
